Legacy of Compassion

In 1993, a significant step was taken to reorganize and strengthen our presence. The Central Region of the Society of the Sisters of St. Ann of Luzern was established. This strategic move fostered for the establishment of the Indian Province into three regions: Southern, Central, and Northern.

Sr. Marietta assumed the leadership of the newly formed Central Region, with Sr. Daisy, Sr. Marian, Sr. Isabel, and Sr. Poornima as her councilors. They focused on spiritual renewal, strengthening apostolic activities, nurturing vocations, and providing comprehensive formation for the Sisters.

The Central Region’s progress was swift, leading to its elevation as the Central Province on 14th March 1998. Sr. Marietta as the first Provincial Superior has steered the Province to the greater heights, along with a dedicated team of Councillors; Sr. Daisy, Sr. Elizabeth Antony, Sr. Stanislaus, and Sr. Florence. This milestone marked the culmination of the region’s growth and its official recognition within the Society.

Vijayawada Province has undertaken a transformative journey marked by different leadership teams, emphasizing the Province’s commitment to its mission and service to humanity.

The leadership of the province, under various Provincial Superiors, has consistently emphasized the mission of the Sisters of St. Ann of Luzern in serving humanity, whether it be eradicating illiteracy, living with the joy of the Gospel, or focusing on contemplation, compassion, and communion. The province’s administration has worked to align itself with its mission to serve those in need and has established committees to support various aspects of administration, including healthcare and finance. This commitment to the mission and service to the marginalized and underprivileged is central to the province’s ethos
