The foundation of the Society of Sisters of St. Ann was well received by people from every walk of life. It had a dual mission of both practical care and spiritual support. Fr. Wilhelm Meyer appointed Sr. Emilie Dormann as the Superior General of the newly established Society.

The leadership of Mother Emile Dormann was par excellence; the Society experienced significant growth and administrative excellence. The mission quickly expanded beyond Switzerland's borders and reached India. Dedicated missionaries, driven by a deep passion for the mission, transformed what seemed impossible into a reality.

Mother Elizabeth Affentranger and Mother Francisca Feer, the pioneers of Indian mission strove to take the Society to new horizons with vision and passion. They founded hospitals, health centers, and educational institutions, leaving an indelible mark on healthcare and education.

Eventually, girls from India started to join the mission, Sr. Beatrice Pazhayattil, being the first Indian sister. The Society grew in number and vitality steadily. The Society of Sisters of St. Ann, Vijayawada Province, is built upon the vision, mission and spirit of our pioneers.
